Description
Mission Espada is often the starting point when one visits the missions in San Antonio, Texas. The missions are still operational and mass is held twice a day just as it was when those missions were established in the 1600's. The door to the Chapel is the most unique, in my opinion, of all the doors on any of the missions. The beauty of the frame with its curves and angles is made even more beautiful by the carved wooded doors. In the morning of late afternoon, the shadows enhance the curves and the carvings making a moody scene. The thick stone walls have lost some of the plaster but this only makes the building more beautiful.
