Description
The Alamo is located in San Antonio, Texas and was originally known as Mission San Antonio de Valero. The Mission was relocated to its present site in 1724. The Battle of the Alamo was fought during the Texas Revolution in 1836 and the bloody siege ended on March 6th with the forces of Santa Anna defeating the Texians. "Remember the Alamo" became the battle cry for the remainder of the Revolution. The Alamo came within inches of being blown up during the battle. A Texian soldier was in charge of the gunpowder. Knowing he was mortally wounded, he tried his best to torch the gunpowder but died inches away from the goal. The Alamo is almost sacred to Texans.
